In this course Charlotte Desvages and Peter Rucz will help you to explore the mathematical background of the modelling of music instruments and current concepts of physics-based sound synthesis.
You will learn how to use these methods for the modelling of simplified instruments, e.g. a string or a marimba bar, using Python or Matlab. Some code examples will be provided for your own experiments.
Goal of the course is the implementation of your own sounds using these techniques and eventually the participation in a joint jam session.
The course will start with the kick-off meeting 29.4.-2.5.2026 in the small seminar room of ETI. It is recommended that you bring your own laptop with Matlab and Python installed and running. Instructions on toolboxes and libraries will be made available in due time.
